This 4wd DAF has a tuned Lotus/Ford TwinCam engine mounted transversely where the passenger seat would normally be, the transmission also mounted transversely next to it, and the driver sits pretty much centrally on top of it all, straddling the transmission tunnel, one leg either side, one for brake, one for accelerator.
And yes, no clutch, as they had a CVT transmission.
And yes some more, as the interior pics shows, you literally sat above the whole CVT 4wd system, inc the belts that if they snapped would give you the biggest slapped ass ever invented.
And yes again, the hump in the roof was added for clearance for the drivers head!
And yes, it worked- They were fast.
And yes, it was soon banned!
I think in rallycross DAF actually stood for Dangerous, Awesome, Fast.
